Experiment using two table saw blades, Freud 60T and 80T, to cut 3/4" melamine. The 60T left some chipping, whereas the 80T cut clean.

Adding an LED Light to a Trim Router

I love the simplicity of this. In addition, it all came together pretty easily. An LED light is a handy feature when using a trim router to do freehand work. The USB LED light , Switchable 4.5V AA battery pack , and USB A extension cable can all be purchased for around $6.00 including shipping. Other needed supplies include: wire strippers, soldering iron, a wire nut, super glue, Velcro, and a rubber band.

How to Adjust Fence Square to Table on Laguna 1412 Bandsaw

Others have commented on the need to shim the fence body to make the fence square to the table. This isn't necessary as there are screws on the body that allow for this adjustment. Unfortunately, nothing about this is mentioned in the users' manual. Regardless, this is now to do it: First, adjust table square to blade. Next, determine whether the fence is square to table. If not, loosen star knobs holding fence to body and tighten appropriate set screw (upper or lower) on backside of body so it protrudes slightly beyond face of body. Once the knobs are resecured, the protruding screw will push the fence out in the appropriate direction.

Shop Apron Square - Starrett 4" Combination Square Review

I had been keeping a PEC 4" Double Square in my shop apron pocket, which was great. But I found myself reaching for my Shinwa miter gauge quite a bit. So, I thought I would try a combination square - one with both a 90˚ and 45˚ fence. The Starett seemed like an ideal solution. That said, there were problems with it. The edges of the blade were not flat, the blade was slightly bowed along it's length, and it did not slide smoothly in the slot. Moreover, it wasn't square. Granted, I did purchase this from a third-party seller so I may have received a defective item, but there are other inherent issues, as well. The unit is tiny and lightweight, even more so than the PEC Double Square, which is a very small square. The Starett 4" Combination Square feels more like a toy than a precision tool, which is disappointing, especially considering Starett's reputation. Not sure if I will try another one.
