Replacing Jet Bandsaw Tires

Old bandsaw tire exploded.  These new blue urethane tires came from Bandsaw Tire Warehouse.

Some takeaways:

• Removing the wheels from the saw makes the job easier.
• The bolt securing the bottom wheel has reverse threads.
• Softening the tires in a bucket of hot water, using a spring clamp, as well as the supplied tire iron is the way to go.
• To fully seat the tire between the ridges of the wheel, roll it on a hard, flat surface while supplying downward pressure.
• The nut holding the upper wheel should be tightened with light pressure, otherwise the bearing will distort and the wheel won't spin freely.
• These tires are a little thicker than the originals, so less spring tension is required.
