Cleanest Holes: Forstner or Brad Point or Twist Bits.

The Test: bore 3/8" hole through 1" thick hard maple using backer block.  Top photo shows (L to R) Forster, Brad Point and Twist Bits from top of board.  Bottom photo shows bottom side.  Note the bottom of the brad point hole shows less tear-out.
