I'm making cork-lined sanding blocks. Quartering a 9 X 11 sheet of sandpaper yields 4 pieces that are 4 1/2 X 5 1/2. But when holding the blocks, it's also necessary wrap the paper up the edges to hold it in place. So, my 3/4" thick blocks are 3 1/4" X 5 1/2".
