Downdraft Table

This downdraft table was fairly easy to make and gets used on a regular basis.  The 6" X 2' X 3' box is made from 3/4" pine and is screwed and glued together.  The bottom is made from hardboard and the top from peg board.  There are a couple of 3/4" X 1" X 2' batons that help support the peg board.  The only hard part was boring the hundreds of peg board holes to 3/8" but the tapered point of a spade bit worked well to reference the hole locations before enlarging them.

The 4" inlet is actually a landscaping flange with the grate sawed out.  There is quick disconnect fetaure that I plan on showing in a future post.  The 2' X 3' permeable rubber mat just lays on top of the peg board  and when it becomes damaged with wear, is easily replaced.

Below the table is a drawer containing sandpaper and supplies and there is shelf for shop jigs below that.

The legs are 1 X material screwed and glued together.  The upper stretchers also serve as supports for downdraft table box and lower stretchers support the lower shelf.

The table is the same height as the table saw and doubles as an outfeed table.
